Founded by lead vocalist and pianist CJ Anderson, Coffee Black is a retro funk and soul band based in Florence, Alabama. Originally a solo act, Anderson released "The Black EP" in 2017. Shortly after the release, he was joined by Damyon Jolley, Michael Rogers, and Angelo Sandoval. From there the band kept growing until they had a horn section and a total of 9 members. Coffee Black brings its own unique twist to the funk/soul/R&B genres. Their genuine sound is driven by the rhythm section and sultry horn line.

July of 2020 saw the release of "Season to Season", a collaborative single with Katlyn Barnes.

Their latest EP, “Light Roast,” was released December 2021.
