Widget Recording Studio, opened over two decades ago by Muscle Shoals native Ron Ballew, has been the scene of recordings by the Supremes, Temptations, Commodores, Sailcat and many others.

Ballew is currently directing the operations toward the recording of Gospel music, specializing in the production and manufacture of cassettes of Gospel groups from throughout the Southeast.

The studio was utilized by the production team of Woodford and Ivey prior to the construction of Wishbone Recording Studios for their productions on Motown Records. Producers such as Pete Carr, Terry Skinner and J.L. Wallace have also worked in the studio.
