T his Alabama-born lady was the Executive Director of the Academy of Country Music. She was a mainstay of the Academy since 1968, growing with the organization. She worked tirelessly year after year, organizing, planning and overseeing virtually every logistical aspect of the Academy's awards presentation show, including the balloting for the respective awards, overseeing ticket sales and the dinner party immediately following the televised show. Fran also had the enviable but awesome task of serving as Talent Producer for the show on behalf of the ACM. She was also editor of the Awards Presentation Program and very much involved in decisions regarding content. Her energetic behind-the-scenes strategy is the Academy's backbone.
Along with the day-to-day office activity, Fran and her staff were productively involved with the annual Bill Boyd Golf Classic, which is held every October as a charity event, the annual Christmas party (Fran's expertise at negotiating comes into play with record companies obtaining fine talent to perform), and as editor of the ACM monthly newsletter, Country Focus.
Fran represented the Academy at many functions (e.g. the Country Radio and IEBA Seminars), always keeping the Academy of Country Music the main focal point. Fran was elevated to the position of Executive Director of the ACM in 1995.
