Lee Clayton was one of the original "outlaw" country singer/songwriters. His first success as a songwriter came in 1972 when Waylon Jennings recorded "Ladies Love Outlaws." Clayton recorded his debut album in 1973; it was not successful but he continued to write songs that were in high demand by the likes of Jerry Jeff Walker, Hoyt Axton, and Willie Nelson.
