ELEANOR BERGQUIST

Instruments: Soprano
Date of Birth:
Place of Birth: Alabama

Eleanor Bergquist's superb soprano voice has graced the works of Bach, Haydn, Mozart, and Poulenc. The Alabama native has sung lead roles with the New York City Opera, the San Francisco Opera, the Opera Compnay of Boston, the Miami Opera and many others.

The New York Post described Bergquist as "a young lyric soprano with a clear, beautiful quality. She should go far." Bergquist proved this prediction to be true. In September 1981, she made her debut with the Metropolitin Opera in "Das Rheingold." The critics highly acclaimed her singing roles as Donna Elvira in "Don Giovanni," Marzelline in "Fidelio," Mme. Lidioine in "Dialogues of the Carmelites" and Armida in Handel's "Rhinaldo." She frequently appeared at Caneige Hall and was a guest soloist several times with the St. Louis Symphany
